Ross Bleckner

Painter Ross Bleckner has a long love affair with the city of New York, having lived in the 1970s in the same TriBeCa loft building that housed the studio of Julian Schnabel and the legendary Mudd Club. Since then, his work has focused on spirituality, humanity, and mortality, particularly the specter of death in the AIDS crisis. A 1995 retrospective at the Guggenheim made him the youngest artist ever to mount a solo show at the New York institution.
